The clinical laboratory team provides a High Quality Specialist Diagnostic Service to improve the Health Care of the people of South of Tyne and Wear.The post holder will assist with the management of the financial and physical resources of the Biochemistry Department to ensure service delivery in line with National, Organisational and Directorate policies. The post holder will have a high level of specialist knowledge and experience in Biochemistry diagnostic techniques and must have Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) State Registration. It is a primary role of the post to provide specialist advice to clinical users regarding service provision and development.The Biochemistry department has state of the art equipment and technology and prides itself on being forward thinking and innovative. It also has a proven track record in staff training and development.To support the South of Tyne Pathology Biochemistry Service an opportunity has arisen for a Technical Manager (BMS 3) position to work across the three hospital sites.The Department is equipped with state of the art technology across all 3 sites with centralised services based at Gateshead. The primary supplier for the Pathology Service is Roche Diagnostics who provide both their own and third party equipment.The Roche Platforms Include
  • Pre-analytical – c8100 and MPA
  • Analytical – c702/c501/e602/e801/c513(HbA1c Analyser)
  • Post-analytical – p501(SRM)
The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the existing Technical Manager covering all equipment on the 3 sites and will initially lead on the Roche platforms which are sited at all 3 laboratory sites.The non-equipment responsibilities as per the job description will also be shared with the existing Technical Manager in support of the Departmental Manager and Head of Department.Full participation in any relevant Department’s extended working day and the out of hours service deemed appropriate for grade is a mandatory requirement of all posts.Based in the North East of England we provide a range of hospital and community health services from our leading facilities including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon urgent care centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead.Established in 2005, we were one of the first foundation trusts in the country and since then have consistently achieved the highest levels of care for patients.As a group we employ around 4,200 staff and currently provide 600 hospital beds across Gateshead.
