BIM Technician

We are looking for a BIM Technician to join our growing team.

The purpose of the role is to support the UK BIM Manager with strategy and policy/process development and both R&D and commercial projects.

The role-holder will be expected to undertake 3D authoring, control/checking of 3rd party work and management thereof. Also, to further develop the capabilities for the company within the BIM environment by connecting it to real site activities. This is expected to encompass activities including BIM 4D, 5D and VR/AR functionality.

Potential to supervise interns, apprentices and graduates according to volume of work and further development of the department.

Key Responsiblities

  • Produce fully mature 3D models from 2D information or survey data
  • Undertake model quality control from external suppliers
  • Simulate construction progress scenarios using 4D software
  • Output, e.g. accurate quantities from 5D quantity take off
  • Assist with preparation of cad templates, presentations, internal standards etc.
  • Critically analyse digital construction problems and find solutions
  • Produce visualisations for both marketing and training purposes
  • Work on time and to budget.

Key qualifications/experience

  • Degree level qualification in Engineering or Technical Design (or similar relevant discipline)
  • Experienced with or in one or more (design and or manufacture/construction) area, e.g.:
    • Railway components, plant or equipment
    • Tunnels
  • Experienced in development of 3D models from basic 2D information
  • Must have experience of using Bentley OpenRail Designer (Microstation) or similar
  • Bentley Synchro
  • Bentley Projectwise
  • Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D and Navisworks Manage
