Job OverviewTo act as a clinical specialist providing verbal and written information to bereaved families and to support women and their families who have experienced fetal loss and/or childbirth related difficulties.To provide support to midwifery, nursing and medical staff within the Women’s Directorate when caring for women experiencing a loss in pregnancy, stillbirth or early neonatal death.To act as an educational resource for medical, nursing and midwifery staff on physical, psychological and administrative aspects of bereavement care. In addition this role is to provide support and training for staff in bereavement related issues.Main duties of the jobThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to provide an essential service within women’s services .The post is 37.5 hrs and is based in Bangor HospitalThe post holder will be a part of the midwifery Patient Experience and Development team
  • To act as an effective advocate for the bereaved woman and her partner by using influencing skills at all levels of the organisation to ensure that the individual’s care is of the highest possible standard.
  • Provides highly sensitive and distressing information to patients and their families.
  • To ensure clinical practice is evidence based, ensuring best practice is maintained using tools such as saving 1000 Lives and encourages the application of nursing and midwifery research into Bereavement care.
  • To devise and deliver an educational training programme meeting the needs of the multi-disciplinary clinical staff in relation to bereavement issues.
