Are you seeking a rewarding supporting young people facing difficulties?A School for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs is looking for a Behaviour Support Mentor to join their supportive team in a long-term position starting as soon as possible. This alternative provision caters for students between the age of 11 to 19, all of whom have additional needs, such as ADHD or Autism, and display challenging behaviours. This is therefore an ideal role for an aspiring Behaviour Therapist to work along young people with behavioural challenges and help assist them in their learning and emotional regulation.As a Behaviour Support Mentor, your daily duties will involve raising the academic and emotional attainment of the students and assist the teacher in delivering fun and engaging lessons. The class of children will be extremely challenging and therefore you will need to manage their behavioural accordingly and be able to remain calm when challenging and complex situations arise. You will be instrumental in helping transform behaviour and help the students develop a love for school and passion for learning, whilst helping set them up for a life after education. You will also receive all the necessary training to deal with the difficult behaviour.Within this Behaviour Support role you will need to have strong behaviour management skills, a compassionate ear and excellent patience to assist with students who have significant behaviour issues. Experience dealing with difficult behaviours in the past would be fantastic, as well as any experience supporting children or young people with additional needs. Graduates in Criminology, Psychology or Social Sciences would also be fantastic, and those who have an understanding of restorative practices and human behaviour.
