An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled leader of change to join the team and lead a large-scale improvement programme within West Herts Teaching Trust. Improving our theatre productivity is a key priority and will support the organisation in delivering the national planning guidance and expectation for elective activity.

To succeed in the role, you must have a background in improving services and managing change with an ability to engage and motivate a wide range of staff. You will therefore need excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to meet tight deadlines with consistency and rigour.

We are looking for someone with passion for being part of a team, who is not afraid to challenge, but can also listen empathically and move things forward, improving quality of services for patients.

The Theatre Productivity Improvement Programme Lead is responsible for leading a large-scale transformation programme to improve theatre productivity and efficiency.

The post holder will lead and deliver improvement projects under the programme which directly translate into productivity improvement within the theatre environment. They will gain and retain the confidence of senior clinical and managerial staff across the trust, engaging and empower staff and supporting a cultural shift and focus on creating a highly productive theatre environment.

The post holder will use change management methodologies and programme management to drive improvement including process mapping, root cause analysis, GANT charts and risk logs. Reports will be produced to a high standard, suitable for the Divisional Senior Management Team, programme SRO and executive team.

To deliver the programme, you will need to navigate and overcome conflicting view and differences of opinion which present as a barrier to programme delivery. You will champion the transformation agenda, supporting and developing staff. This will include directly line managing the project team.

There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust! Major redevelopment works are due for completion by 2025 or soon after. These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.
