Our client is looking for a Backup and Storage Engineerto join their seasoneddata protection team. The client is currently undergoing a period of data migration and is looking for a capable individual to aid them in this transformation.

You will be placed onto the Storage and Backup Teamwith the purpose of providing operational assistance for the client’s Veeam and HP/Dell storage technologies. This will be alongside the taks of supporting BAU teams and enhancing existing backup strategies.

Day-to-dayCore Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring enterprise scalability and performance for storage and backup environments via proactive capacity planning, performance control and configuration adjustment.
  • Validating RPOs and RTOs with business expectations, ensuring data backups and restore SLAs are established.
  • Monitoring the ongoing operation of the systems and providing utilization reports using existing tools to identify problems and corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitoring performance, errors, and warnings on compute and storage systems.
  • Troubleshooting performance problems and proposing short term fixes and long-term solutions.

Essential Experience and Knowledgeis as follows:

  • Over 5 years experienceworking on SAN storage, Backup and Storage Fabric technologies.
  • Over5 years experience working on Enterprise backup solutions.
  • Greatknowledge of storage techniques such as iSCSIor Fibre Channel.
  • Excellent knowledgeof managing corporate Backup environments (Veeam Backup tool, Netbackup, Avamar and Dell Datadomain).
  • Working understanding of Unix, Linux, WindowsandVMWare platforms
  • GSCE/GCE qualifications in at least 5 subjects (including both maths and English).

SomeDesirable skills are:

  • ITIL V3 foundation
  • A Computer Scienceor equivalent technical degree or qualification (or 3 years + experience in a similar role).
  • Previous experience working within a financial services organisation.

This is a hybrid role - with candidates expected to attend the client’s office in Chatham.
