We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Engineering Technician, specialising in Automotive Engineering, to join our dedicated Engineering team. This will be for an immediate start.

The primary role is to support the Engineering lecturers in delivering the curriculum within one of our busy workshop environments. Your main duties will include:


  • Preparing, setting up and clearing away demonstrations and practical work for the allocated areas which cover Automotive and End point assessments.

  • Assisting lecturers and professional coaches and students during the practical element of lessons.

  • Undertaking PAT testing of electrical equipment (suitable training will be given for this).

  • Maintaining Engineering Department equipment and ensuring all equipment is serviceable and safe for use. Also arrange for defects to be repaired in a timely manner.

  • Ordering consumables, spares, teaching materials as required.

  • Supporting the department to ensure we provide the best possible learning experience to students


The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following:


  • Qualified to at least GCSE level C in English and Maths

  • Ideally the candidate will have a suitable qualification in Mechanical/Electrical/Manufacturing Engineering.

  • A passion for working with young adults.

  • Understanding of safety requirements within workshop areas.

  • Experience in prioritising and organising workload, supporting a team.

  • Acting upon initiative and the ability to work unsupervised.

  • Competent in the use of standard IT packages to administer tasks.

As part of the development package we will offer to the right candidate either the option of studying the relevant Engineering HNC or if this has been completed previously the opportunity to study teaching, learning and assessment qualifications allowing for the opportunity to progress into a lecturing role.
