Automation Test Engineer - 6 Month Contract (+ renewals) - Excellent Daily Rate

We are hiring an Automation Test Engineer to join Legal & General

Legal & General Insurance are undertaking a 5-year transformation program which will see many of its legacy applications re-written, re-factored and migrated from on-premise data centres to Cloud hosted. This role will play a key part in the design and build of CI/CD pipelines, along with infrastructure/ application build and deployments to support this multi-million-pound strategic program.

Key Experience, Skills & Qualifications you will provide:

• ISTQB or equivalent qualifications or demonstrable evidence of relevant business/ work experience at this level.
• ANSI SQL significant understanding, and two or more vendor specific SQL variants (e.g. Snowflake, DB2, PostgreSQL)
• Automated testing: Focus on data patterns rather than UI testing
• Programming automated tests
• Continuous Integration pipelines: building a CI pipeline with wide test coverage
• Synthetic test data preparation
• Documenting test data designs, test plans, test approaches
• Cloud platforms (AWS) and container platforms (Docker)

• Development of complex SQL in two or more of the following: Snowflake PostgreSQL, DB2 LUW or zOS, Oracle Database, MySQL, SQL Server database
• Development of complex PL/SQL,PgSQL,T-SQL etc procedural SQL functions and procedures and DML batch updates
• Converting manual tests into an automated testing framework via pytest, etc
• Building or contributing automated tests into a CI pipeline with wide test coverage
• Designing and building synthetic data that matches production data using anonymisation techniques
• Linux administration, scripting languages (e.g bash, Python, Powershell), containers (Docker)
• Designing and executing test plans
• To work as part of the data engineering scrum team to design, carry out and report on the testing of data solutions built by the team.
• Work with the engineering team to ensure the new solution or change has been understood.
• Design test approaches to large projects.
• Creating test data and using anonymisation techniques to structure data to match production
• Writing automated tests and building automated testing frameworks
• Executing test plans and integrating into a continuous integration pipelines
• Assist the engineering team and business analysts as to the root cause of any issues discovered during testing.
