Electrical Controls Engineer – Bakkavor Aston
Salary £50,000 to £55,000 depending on experience
Bonus, Private Healthcare, pension scheme
Monday to Friday Days, 37.5 hours per week, 8.30am to 5pm (Flexibility required as per call outs and business needs)

Bakkavor Bakery is based in Aston, Cheshire and specialises in making specialty breads. The Aston Site employs over 240 people and is one of three manufacturing factories that are part of the Bakkavor Bakery sector in the UK.

The Role;

We have a fantastic opening for an Electrical Controls Engineer to join our growing Projects Engineering team and function at Bakkavor’s Aston and Crewe Site.

The Electrical Control Engineer is responsible for managing the electrical controls throughout the bakery and maintaining assets to optimise production levels. You will manage/conduct all planned new electrical installations and any electrical upgrades to the sites.
The roll will also predictive maintenance to prevent issues occurring and reactive maintenance where you will respond to breakdowns and fault finding on electrical circuits along with Siemens PLC’s and AS-i (Siemens and IFM).
Duties and responsibilities;

  • Identify faults (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, automation, and pneumatics) on food processing and packaging assets, action as required.
  • Identify faults on AS-Interface Networks (AS-i ) and rectify.
  • Prepare for all electrical installation projects and upgrades for the sites.
  • Manage and conduct planned maintenance of electrical controls food processing and packaging assets.
  • Assist in Projects maintaining a high level of Health and Safety.
  • Conduct predictive maintenance of food processing and packaging assets (condition-based monitoring).
  • Identify faults (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, automation, and pneumatics) on food and drink processing and packaging assets, action as required.
  • Identify electrical obsolescence and escalate solutions as necessary.
  • Maintaining a record and back-up of asset software for food processing and packaging assets.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects to optimise food assets or processes. For example, participate in failure investigations to ensure process effectiveness and to contribute to and implement practical engineering solutions for efficiency and profitability.
  • Undertake technical performance reviews in collaboration with other functions and stakeholders.
  • Review and maintain engineering documentation to ensure it is current.
  • Support maintenance and operational team members in developing engineering technical competence.
  • Ensure availability and performance of maintenance tools and equipment. Review suitability and efficiency.
  • Contribute to food and drink internal and external audits.
  • Monitor product quality and plant operation/performance while ensuring that people, product safety and environment are never compromised.
  • Participate in capital projects.
  • Use your technical expertise to coach and develop other colleagues and team members.
  • Ensure availability of critical components and review suitability.

Experience / Qualifications;

  • Electrical Engineering Technical Qualification Level 5 or above
  • Current Edition of IET Wiring Regulations (C&G Level 3) (achieve within 12 months).
  • Food Safety Qualification Level 2 (achieve within 12 months).
  • IOSH Managing Safely (achieve within 12 months)
  • PLC Knowledge Siemens, Allen Bradley
  • AS-i Networking on Siemens and IFM.
  • Electrical Installation Industrial.

Desirable;

  • Engineering Apprenticeship (C&G/EAL NVQ Level 3 or 4 or OAL FDEM Diploma.
  • Supplementary Engineering Qualifications.
