ASAP – Permanent role: ARB Unit Teaching Assistant (Willing to

honour to notice period if needed)

We are recruiting x3 Teaching Assistants to support pupils

across the ARB Unit with SEN. We are recruiting on behalf of our

partnership school located in the PL15 area of Launceston. This is

one of our regular client schools, so we always have lots of

exciting opportunities coming up with them. We also support their

Multi Academy Trust.

SEN children have difficulties with interpreting both verbal and

non-verbal language like gestures or tone of voice. The pupils you

will support will have a very literal understanding of language,

and think you always mean exactly what you say. They may find it

Autistic people often have difficulty ’reading’ other people -

recognising or understanding others’ feelings and intentions - and

expressing their own emotions. This can make it very hard for them

  • Seek out time alone when overloaded by other people
  • Not seek comfort from other people
  • Appear to behave ’strangely’ or in a way thought to be socially
inappropriate.

Your role as an ARB Teaching Assistant, will be to support the

children who may need the above guidance with their learning. You

will need to learn how you can build positive learning

relationships with these Primary children, in order to help them

develop throughout their education. You could also be working

across the school in different year groups.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory

holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some

cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available

at a later date.
