Opportunities at Female Only IRC

We're looking for people to create a brand new team based at our new Immigration Removal Centre (IRC), as part of our newly acquired contract. Individuals will have experience in relating to people that may be agitated or confused by their circumstances and are able to interact and assist potentially vulnerable individuals whilst in our care. Empathy and resilience are key attributes for this role.

You will be passionate about delivering a great service in a sensitive manner, along with good communication skills and a team player. The ability to remain calm under pressure and experience in problem solving would also be advantageous to developing your career within Care and Custody.

Job Description

To carry out audits to schedule in order to achieve compliance with contractual, Home Office, Company, legislative and relevant standards: maintaining and improving them in line with latest practices
  • Carry out audits assigned in a timely manner to ensure compliance to contractual, Home Office, Company, and legislative requirements
  • Contribute to a climate of innovation and continuous improvement so that all staff are focussed on meeting contractual requirements, adding value and delivering best practice
  • Provide support and advice to staff and local managers to ensure quality standards are met in compliance with relevant legislation
  • Collate and analyse audit information in a timely manner, making recommendations where non-compliance or opportunities are identified, tracking them to completion with the assigned employees, escalating any concerns regarding close out
  • Assist in the production of the monthly Centre Managers report ensuring all key information is accurately recorded and reported to the Home Office client
  • Drive the Self Audit process for Standard and Security modules to ensure completion to the agreed timetable in line with the contract
  • Administer version control systems ensuring that relevant information is processed and disseminated both accurately and to deadline
  • Educate staff in their understanding of the contract and the execution of their duties in compliance with the requirement of that contract
  • Manage contractual specifications to ensure they are an integral part of management decisions and actions, in order to maintain contractual compliance
  • Promote commitment and compliance to Health & Safety and Environment standards and contractual requirements to ensure it is embedded across the Centre
  • Assist in ensuring the progression and effective implementation of identified energy reduction programmes
  • Prepare for, and play an active part in, the Centre’s external accreditation programmes such as ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 in line with Mitie corporate accreditation
  • Attend regular meetings with the Head Office Compliance team to discuss contract issues and mitigation
Qualifications

Essential
  • This role requires previous experience of working in a custodial environment
  • Relevant previous experience in audit, compliance and standards
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Clear Communicator: Both verbal and written English of a high standard
  • Basic-Intermediate IT Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Desirable
  • Level 3 Qualification, or accredited to level 3 from relevant experience: e.g. A level, access to higher education diploma, advanced apprenticeship, applied general, AS level, international Baccalaureate diploma or Level 3 Award, Certificate or Diploma
