Job Overview

The North Wales Primary Care Audiology Service is expanding! Our service is looking to recruit qualified Band 5 staff to help deliver a new wax removal service to patients across North Wales. The service operates across the whole of North Wales from Wrexham to Anglesey, covering a diverse area with outstanding coastal and rural scenery.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity t o join established dynamic team working within GP surgeries. You will be helping to deliver a safe and effective wax removal service to patients within a specific Primary Care cluster. This will involve wax removal using manual techniques (microsuction), as well as assisting in first line assessment of hearing and tinnitus. Once fully established in the role, your time will be split between Primary Care, and working within the Adult Rehab Audiology service in secondary care, carrying out all aspects of routine audiology adult rehabilitation. Wax removal using micro-suction is a key part of the role, and training will be arranged for the successful candidate if required. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the successful candidate will have opportunity to be involved with audit, service development, and research activity as the service expands.

The ideal candidate will be eligible for registration with the AHCS or RCCP, be confident working autonomously and ready for a new challenge.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • BSC Audiology or BSc plus BAAT Part I&II, or equivalent
  • Eligible for future state registration as a Clinical Physiologist

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Work with range of age groups
  • Modernised hearing aid services

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Teamwork skills

Desirable criteria

  • Welsh speaker
  • Some data base experience.
  • More advanced IT skills
