At UL Identity Management & Security (IMS) we aim to make the cyber world more secure. We work with our customers to test, validate/verify, certify, and advise on their functional security and non-functional cybersecurity of their products, systems, and ecosystems. We make sure the security functions of products and systems work as they should, and we help customers test their connected technologies for hackability. Through our creation of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, we help our customers define and implement their security strategies.

As our global footprint continues to grow we are looking for an associate Test Engineer to join our small, fast paced approval laboratory team in Basingstoke. As a market leader in secure transaction technologies, UL IMS is responsible for testing and certifying products and technologies linked to EMV (chip technology), contactless (NFC) and Mobile Payments to ensure they function as expected, before being launched to market. You will be responsible for guiding the customer and performing test activities in order to achieve a smoothly running certification process.

What You’ll Learn & Achieve
  • Responsible for test deliverables and customer satisfaction
  • Applies SLA (Service Level Agreements/ timestamps) to projects and report frequently on progress of the work
  • Performs quality control to ensure the highest quality for our customers
  • Masters the technical specifications of the products being tested and the test (automation) tools being used
  • Contributes to knowledge development across the team by sharing insights through presentation, documentation, writing white papers and training team members
  • Maintain/improve your individual technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, obtaining applicable certifications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of the art practices and participating in professional societies and cross-departmental task forces
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Degree or relevant education in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Telecommunication, Radio Frequency (RF), Electronics Engineering, or relevant work experience
  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
  • IT skills basic knowledge of Word, Excel
  • Should be willing to learn new technical concepts and implement them.
  • An innate sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills in English. Additional language skills are a plus
  • Self-motivated, proactive and flexible to adapt to different scenarios.
  • ISTQB certification or experience working in the payment industry is a plus
