Purpose of role

Due to significant instructions from existing clients, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a bright and ambitious lawyer of 2 to 5 years PQE with non-contentious technology, outsourcing and general commercial experience to join our highly talented and award-winning London TMT department. They will be working with one of the UK’s top TMT teams, band 1 ranked in technology and telecoms, commercial contracts and data protection, and will have the opportunity to be involved in some of the most innovative work in the field, supported by our team of over 50 colleagues.

You will have the opportunity to work with household names such as EDF Energy, Marks & Spencers, John Lewis, Network Rail, Royal Mail, Sainsbury’s, Total, and Virgin Group, as well as a range of Financial Institutions such as Santander, Standard Chartered and MUFG. We also advise HM Government and applicants will have an opportunity should they wish to get involved in some of the largest, most innovative technology and commercial public sector procurements in the UK.

Responsibilities

You will be given the opportunity to work across a diverse range of types of work across different sectors including TMT, Defence, Retail Government and Energy. We are also very strong in technology procurement and payments and fintech work in the Financial Services sector, and you will have the chance to be involved in that type of work if you wish.

Our approach is to create a supportive environment by working collaboratively as part of a team servicing particular clients or sectors. You will be involved in a mixture of technology and commercial deals, some large where you are working as part of a team, and others where you will be able to operate with a greater degree of independence.

The department has a strong teamwork ethic and a first class client management approach. It is essential that candidates are team players and committed to developing personally and professionally. A determination to deliver high-quality focused services to our clients is essential, as is maintaining and developing client relationships.

Required experience, skills and attributes

  • Strong academic record, including a degree or equivalent
  • Candidates are expected to have technology and privacy awareness
  • Having good experience working on similar work for sophisticated clients is essential
  • We are very happy to consider candidates with in-house experience as well as private practice, as in practice we form close relationships with in house teams, and the ability to understand their environment is vey important.
  • Ability to work with a degree of independence
  • Exceptional drafting skills and legal research ability
