An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior pharmacist or pharmacy technician to join the Pharmacy Team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (RDUH), based at Northern Devon District Hospital (NDDH) in Barnstaple in a new position of Associate Director of Pharmacy.

This post offers the right candidate an ability to extend their career into senior pharmacy leadership, managing a district hospital pharmacy department, while working for the recently merged large acute University Trust.

The post holder will work with the Director of Pharmacy, senior pharmacy team and the Divisional teams to deliver high quality, safe pharmacy services within NDDH. They will lead the team based at NDDH and be an active member of the overall Trust pharmacy senior leadership team. This is an exciting time to join the organisation as we will have recently introduced a full electronic patient record, including an electronic prescribing and medicines administration system. You will lead the pharmacy team in optimising the new system and working more closely with the team based in Exeter.

The NDDH pharmacy department is a single site pharmacy providing services to the acute hospital as well as to the community hospital (South Molton) and other outpatient community sites.

You will be responsible for providing leadership and management of all aspects of pharmacy services to ensure compliance with statutory requirements. You should be experienced in delivering services within a hospital pharmacy setting and motivated to improve the quality of care for patients. In return you will be supported to further develop your pharmacy leadership skills and shape the service for the future working with an established senior pharmacy team.

The role is a permanent full-time position but part-time and flexible hours will be considered for the right candidate. The post holder will participate in the provision of general pharmacy duties as required by the service to include weekend working, public holidays and late duty.

Candidates should be aware that while this post is based in Barnstaple, there will be an opportunity to work collaboratively with pharmacy colleagues within Eastern Services (Exeter) in the recently merged Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to shape the future of the wider pharmacy teams.

If you would like to discuss the role further or to arrange a visit contact the Director of Pharmacy, Tracey Foss on 01392 406039 or
