About the Bank

The Scottish National Investment Bank is a new development investment bank for Scotland with a vision to catalyse change by investing in a fairer, sustainable, and ambitious Scotland. The Bank is a mission-led patient capital investor, with long-term missions set for it by the Scottish Parliament. Its missions include:

The Bank will invest in businesses and projects connected to Scotland that support the delivery of its missions in Scotland.

The Bank will be underpinned by £2bn of capital from the Scottish Government, over 10 years.

As a development investment bank, the Bank will seek to enhance and expand the financial investment options available to business and projects across Scotland. In addition to the capital the Bank has committed from the Scottish Government, the Bank will be seeking to crowd-in investment from other lenders and institutional investors into the Scottish economy.

Based: Edinburgh or Glasgow

The Bank’s team will work flexibly from our hub offices that we will establish in Glasgow and

Edinburgh. Currently the Bank has one hub office in central Edinburgh.

Role

Whilst this a permanent role, the Associate will spend the first 18 months working on rotation within a variety of departments including the Bank’s investment origination; investment risk; portfolio management; and Partnerships & Engagement teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Acting as a support to the rest of the wider team depending on rotational placement.
  • Reviewing the necessary due diligence reports associated with individual investments.
  • Building/reviewing internal project and corporate financial models for potential investment opportunities with the support of the deal team lead/risk team lead.
  • Reviewing and sensitising externally built financial models.
  • Providing financial analysis of investment opportunities from either an origination and structuring perspective or as part of the risk assessment team.
  • Supporting the identification and qualification of both financial risks and social impacts, both positive and potentially negative, in all investment opportunities.
  • Assisting in the preparation of all investment committee papers and reports.
  • Providing market research and investment analysis to support investment origination activities.
  • Assisting with the administration of investment opportunities, risk review of investment portfolio and market interactions.

Key skills and experience

  • Degree qualified, in Business Administration, Finance, or related fields Professional qualification (CA, CFA or similar), will be highly regarded.
  • 1-3 years of relevant post-graduate work experience.
  • Associates who do not yet hold a CFA or similar qualification will be supported and encouraged to undertake one.
