Responsibilities
Description of the Business Line or Department
The Client Solutions Group (CSG) is responsible for developing and managing client solutions for SG Kleinwort Hambros. The purpose of the group is to bring together our client solutions into one group by harmonising and strengthening the offer, including developing products and services to empower client-facing staff to deliver exceptional client service and win new business. The CSG function spans Investment Management, Credit and Banking, and digital deliveries, new product development, offer and review, risk oversight and governance and Communications.
Summary of the key purposes of the role
PRIMARY: Act as a dedicated Assistant Investment Manager to the Head of Investment Management
SECONDARY: Assist all Investment Managers in the management, administration and implementation of client portfolios and funds including participation in client meetings where appropriate.
Monitor and maintain portfolio static data
Monitor investment management processes and report exceptions to IM management.
Produce management information on the IM activities.
Update IM marketing and other materials, in particular client Portfolio Review Packs (PRP)
Summary of responsibilities
In support of the Head of Investment Management
o Act as a dedicated AIM to the Head of Investment Management (HoIM)
o Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the HoIM’s client book
o Assist HoIM, under supervision for regulated activities to:
Draft / edit client correspondence and bespoke/periodic reporting
Answer client / CRM e-mails and telephone calls
Update departmental procedures and intranet page
Review client documents; IDD/IR/PRP
Attend client meetings as required / appropriate
Liaise on HoIM’s behalf with other departments, for example with new account opening
Complete Risk and Oversight monitoring
Prepare trades for policy changes: Discretionary and Advisory
Complete ad-hoc project work as required
Provide AIM support to the broader IM team to:
Clear overdrafts
o Review list of overdrawn accounts and discuss appropriate actions with relevant portfolio managers.
Take relevant actions to rectify overdrafts Operating Risk and Regulatory responsibilities
o Carry out permanent supervision checks on portfolio investment processes.
o Perform all duties in line with KH procedures.
o Comply with relevant jurisdiction regulation and always treat customers fairly.
Marketing materials
o Update investment and other marketing materials.
Product knowledge
o Develop an in-depth knowledge of the KH investment proposition; process, strategies, service tiers.
o Contribute as appropriate to asset class committees
Report on Investment Performance
o Support Investment Managers with ad hoc performance analysis
Management Information
o Produce management information on IM activities as required.
Client Communication
o Contribute to written client materials as required.
o Answer ad-hoc client queries as required.
o Attend client meetings with investment managers as required
Provide ad hoc coverage other IM desks as may be required; Execution Only, Strategy, Portfolio Implementation
Comply with the regulations, rules and procedures, internal and external applicable in the context of its function and follow the compulsory training.
- Perform all duties in accordance with the principles outlined in the KH Code of Conduct, and the SG Code, as well as the policies and procedures relevant to your responsibilities, to ensure that you adhere to a culture that focuses on the long-term sustainability of client relationships and delivers good outcomes to retail clients
Profile required
Competencies and qualifications
Individual contributor competencies as defined in the SG Leadership Model
Basic understanding of all major asset markets (equities, bonds, FX, commodities, hedge funds)
Basic understanding of asset allocation and portfolio construction principles
Basic understanding of investment risk management issues.
Basic knowledge of UK regulatory framework.
Strong analytical skills
Attention to detail
Good communication skills
Competency with Microsoft Office programs (in particular Excel)
