Your New Role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Assistant Team Manager to support in the delivery of a robust and effective safeguarding service for adults in the city of Portsmouth within the Adult MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub).

Portsmouth Adult MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) is a small fast-paced, dynamic team, committed to promoting individuals’ rights and choices, keeping people in Portsmouth safe.

The purpose of the MASH is to safeguard adults who are experiencing, or are at risk of experiencing, abuse or neglect. As ATM, the ideal candidate will:

  • Be resilient and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Be able to provide direction and operational support to the team
  • Be willing and able to cover and delegate in the absence of the team manager.

Over the last year, the MASH team has evolved significantly and in this role you will be actively involved in contributing to the ongoing development of the service, actively participate in the governance programme, staff supervision and deliver teaching/training programmes. You will provide direction and operational support to the members of the Adult MASH, as well as ensuring that the team practices within the legal parameters. You will manage a small caseload and promote evidence based practice within the team. You will monitor and support the team, ensuring that staff take responsibility for their continual professional development.


What you need to succeed

You will need to hold a professional qualification with relevant registration in social work have a sound and relevant legal, theoretical and practice knowledge base, particularly in relation to adult safeguarding, The Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Making Safeguarding Personal. You will demonstrate experience of working in a supervisory role in a social or health care setting and possess robust and comprehensive assessment skills. You will have an understanding of change management processes, have the ability to drive, inspire and motivate a team promoting a positive team ethos and be prepared to think creatively, differently and to experiment with new ideas.
