Working in close partnership with segment commercial leaders and in close collaboration with staff (HR, Internal Audit, Finance, Legal, Insurance, Communications, Technology), Global Physical Operations continues development of cost-effective and fit-for-purpose operating procedures together with QHSSE compliance assistance/assurance to the WFS sites.

Global Physical Operations – Aviation is required to operate into plane, storage facilities, inventory and owned assets as required by the business including the management of any JVs in relation to aviation operations in a safe and professional manner. It achieves this by:

THE POSITION

1.Purpose of the Job

Responsible to the Ops Manager and Station Manager GPO (A) UK, the Assistant Station Manager (Liverpool) is the delivery agent responsible for supporting the driving results through World Fuel Services’ physical asset operations in area of responsibility within the United Kingdom. The position will be responsible for the day-to-day routine support management (Site Specific) and implementation of all aspects of the operation including safety, operational protocol, logistics management, environmental regulations and management of physical assets to achieve operational best practices.

2.Principal Responsibilities

  • Deputise as required for Ops Manager or Station manager GPO (A) UK (*depending of specific site locations).
  • Support the Implementation of QHSE standards and processes in designated GPO (A) locations.
  • Responsible for applying Quality & Technical policy within designated GPO (A) locations in line with Industry standards.
  • Support and Manage designated location physical assets, operating staff and provide oversight, guidance, training and organisational alignment to achieve safety, regulatory and operational excellence and best practice.
  • Support any change and hold site personnel accountable to deliver results.
  • Support UK Ops Manager and Station manager to facilitate growth whilst maintaining current operations.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation (*depending on location) and maintenance of WFS designated operated and supported airport storage and into plane facilities.
  • Oversee day-to-day routine aspects of designated site aviation fuel stock management.
  • Review and approve fitter purchase requests within designated UK locations.
  • To ensure that Product Quality Standards at GPO (A) designated operated locations are maintained at all times.
  • Represent WFS interests at the airports concerned and liaise with external organisations as well as with internal contacts to ensure that all aspects of designated operations are properly managed and integrated.
  • Review the performance and career development of subordinate staff at regular intervals.
  • Monitor and approval of all designated site overtime and KPI monthly reports (*depending on location).
  • Provide the customer service as defined in the commercial agreements.
  • Liaise with local representatives of airlines, general aviation and military customers.

5.Geographic Scope & Travel Requirements

Role will be at designated airport based but there may be requirement to travel which will entail eligible for the company fuel allowance payment. Travel frequency in the UK is low (*depending on site locations).

6.Key Performance Measures

  • For the UK designated Site Operations:
    • Successful Delivery of HSE KPIs
    • Successful Delivery of Operational KPIs
    • Successful implementation of Training Programme
    • Delivery of support to UK Station Manager whilst maintaining current operational capability
    • Meeting agreed ongoing objectives in the time agreed

THE CANDIDATE

1.Education Required

Essential: A minimum of 3 GCSE’s (Grades A-C) including Maths and English.

Desirable: Educated to A Level standard

2.Work Experience Required

At least 3 years work experience within the Aviation Fuels sector

3.Technical Skills & Specific Knowledge Required

Essential

  • Experience of working within teams in a dynamic aviation operational environment.
  • Aviation fuel supervisory experience

Desirable

  • Understanding of Risk Assessment & Risk Management
  • Working knowledge of Fuel Management Systems
