Assistant Project Manager

Morrison Telecom Services operates as a Telecommunication Infrastructure Services Company and is part of the Telecom Division of M Group Services. We deliver a range of essential infrastructure services to the utilities, transport, data and telecom sectors across the UK and Ireland.

We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to be part of our “Falcon” City Fibres Team in in Dorking. You will be based out of to our Gillingham site

As the Assistant Project Manager,you will be part of our delivery team who are responsible for end-to-end delivery of the FTTP (fibre to the premise) build programme. The successful applicant ideally would need to be from a strong flex / fibre background, preferably with Openreach network experience.

You ideally have operational experience (cabling, civils, OH, Splicing) will boast excellent Project Management and clerical skills to enable the team to achieve the project deliverables.

What will you be doing?

As the Assistant Manageryou will be responsible for:

• Support Project Management of operational teams – flex & civils (Engaging with sub-contractors to ensure works are completed in line with agreed deadlines)
• Maintaining an up to date and clear project tracker with updates showing where each task is up to and identifying the current owner.
• Support Management of Supply chain
• Attend and chair all required meetings both client & MTS / Supply chain
• In-depth knowledge of Openreach specifications & documentation is desirable
• Co-ordination of work stack/multiple contractors/DLO in line with delivery programme, ensuring delays are minimised by resolving operational issues to enable swift job closure and invoicing
• Ensuring prompt and accurate completion and return of relevant compliance documentation
• Ensuring relevant Health and Safety standards are followed and achieved
• Lead and develop a team to successfully meet and exceed both MTS/Openreach expectations
• Jeopardy managing of works to ensure that the required by date delivery and volume delivery targets are met
• Support & Ensure staff/operatives are regularly monitored and motivated to deliver the highest possible standards
• Reviewing documentation returned by operatives to ensure it meets the quality guidelines.
• Gathering evidence for all requests for additional payment from the client and ensuring this is applied for through an existing agreed process.

Skills and Experience:

• Experienced in Utility Works / Highways works.
• Experienced in FTTP build - Fibre cable installation / splicing / testing.
• Competent in using Microsoft Office products – word, excel etc.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills - Confidence to deal with customers over the phone (including conference calls).
• Proven ability to build strong relationships and exceed client expectations
• The ability to motivate, manage and grow a successful team
• Strong previous experience of the communications industry at a similar level
• Able to drive/have a valid UK driving license
