We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Assistant Operations Managerto join our clients team based at their site in Bristolon a Permanent Basis!

Our client is an ambitious and fast growing company based in Bristol with manufacturing and distribution operations in Dubai and India.

They export worldwide and are a major brand on the world market, as well as being the leading independent horticultural specialist in the UK and 100,000sq ft of modern warehousing in South Bristol.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Oversee and plan activities of multiple warehouses
  • Management and coordination of warehouse team
  • Staff management and attendance/performance reporting
  • Working with the wider team on continuous space planning and management
  • Ownership of all quality checks for outgoing goods
  • Ensure Health & Safety compliance in warehouses
  • Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule (load, pack, wrap, label, ship)
  • Receive and process warehouse stock products (pick, unload, label, store)
  • Perform inventory controls and keep quality standards high for audits
  • Enforce a clean and safe working environment and optimise space utilisation
  • Report any discrepancies
  • Operate and maintain warehouse vehicles and equipment
  • Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations

Job Description:

In this newly created role the Assistant Operations Manager will work closely with the Senior Operations Team with a focus on implementing safety, health, environmental, quality and compliance policies, procedures and paperwork.and coaching/developing site the team to operate in a consistently compliant environment and developing safe systems of work.

You will be able to work independently or as part of a team and will be accountable for ensuring that our safety and quality standards and procedures align with organisational best practice. You will also be responsible for establishing performance standards, procedures, training and coaching and audit controls to enable us to meet business requirements.

Experience Required:

  • Site Facilities / Maintenance management
  • Internal Auditing
  • Strong knowledge in Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) management
  • Experience of risk management
  • Experience of conducting risk assessments and audits
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and positive approach
  • Able to deliver effective presentations and training courses
  • Good IT skills
  • Experience of developing company processes and standards within the business and demonstration of practical application
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant industry legislation and standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills/ persuasion
  • Analytical thinking
  • Flexibility in thinking with a can-do approach

Full UK Driving licence

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure that all requirements for Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and compliance policies and standards are met by delivering effective induction and refresher training to new and existing site colleagues
  • Completion of site audits to ensure site assurance and risk reduction requirements
  • Undertake and manage regular review of site risk assessments, safe systems of work, method statements and contractor permits to work
  • Identify and review compliance key performance indicators and suggest improvements and efficiencies to better meet business/legal requirements
  • Manage all site facility and maintenance contractor requirements
  • Manage all site compliance document control requirements, corrective and preventative actions and trend analysis
  • Undertake all site accident investigation requirements for PI and or Vehicle Collisions, determining appropriate follow up actions, devising and delivering training

This list is not exhaustive and the job holder may be required to undertake other duties and support the wider warehouse operation during periods of absence.
