We are currently on the hunt for Assistant Manager to join our amazing team at our brand-new Waffle Inn Paignton.

As an Assistant Manager you will be responsible for inspiring and leading the team, ensuring food and drink is being produced to a high standard, whilst maintaining efficient and effective kitchen management.

This is a physically demanding role.

Main Duties include:

  • Responsible for inspiring and leading a team of staff to deliver a high-quality customer experience to meet wide ranging culinary experience.
  • Ensures that there are adequate staff on duty, with the necessary skills and training, to allow for the kitchen to always run efficiently.
  • Responsible for the preparation, cooking and serving of food complying with policies and legislation in relation to quality, quantity, food hygiene and portion control.
  • Deals with customer complaints about food service issues, escalates these to more senior management as appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring that dessert specifications are maintained, and food margins achieved.
  • Responsible for stock management and control including ordering supplies, stock rotation and waste management and pilfering control. Responsible for stock takes in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensures that all the necessary records are maintained (manual and computerised) and available for internal and external audits e.g. EHO, Trading Standards etc.
  • Responsible for the highest standards of food hygiene and food safety within the kitchen and bar areas. Responsible for HACCP and ensuring that staff at all levels have the required standard of training.
  • Responsible for the recruitment and management of staff within his or her area, including discipline, performance management, training, and development.
  • Responsible for regular communication with all his/her staff
  • Ensures that the staff food policy is followed with no unauthorised food leaving the kitchen.
  • Instills a clean as you go regime within the kitchen. Ensures that regular deep cleaning is undertaken in accordance with company policy and food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ensures that all kitchen equipment particularly fridges, freezers and other similar appliances are working efficiently and to manufacturers specifications and food safety standards.
  • Ensures that all staff wear kitchen uniform and PPE where appropriate.
  • Always observes business etiquette and confidentiality.
  • Always observes company procedures and protocols.
  • The job holder is responsible for her own health and safety.
  • The job holder will attend training courses, Company meetings and other team events as required.
  • The job holder will carry out such other reasonable tasks that may from time to time be allocated.
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of the stores.
  • Cash handling and end of day banking.

Experience/ Qualifications

  • Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Hospitality & Catering
  • Appropriate Food Safety
  • COSHH
  • Previous experience in a supervisory position is beneficial.
  • Minimum 3 years kitchen experience
