Our client is a UK law firm headquartered in London. It also has offices in Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, Manchester, and Norwich, it is the UK’s 38th largest law firm measured by revenues. The firm has been named for a record seventeenth year running as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in The Sunday Times’ annual survey.

This contract role in the finance team is primarily to support the firm’s management accountant with monthly reporting, finance planning, and ad hoc finance tasks and responsibilities, as well as supporting the implementation of a new reporting and forecasting tool.

Responsibilities

  • Support / be responsible for the completion of various regular reports.
  • Complete monthly and adhoc summary statistics and graphs to be used in communication with the partners, and other KPI reports as necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide support in the preparation of the firm’s annual finance plan;
  • Support the reporting and monitoring of operating expenses.
  • Support / be responsible for the completion of various monthly journals including.
  • Fixed asset register maintenance and depreciation.
  • Bad debt provision over 12 months.
  • Correcting journals in regards any miss-posting of invoices / expenses.
  • Responsible for the submission of the Mills & Reeve Services Limited VAT return surveys.
  • Complete most survey requests received by the finance team (for example CBI service sector survey and ONS fees survey) and support with the more complex annual surveys, for example the PwC annual and quarterly survey.
  • Support the team in implementing and testing the new reporting and forecasting tool.

Candidate Profile

  • Ideally educated to degree level.
  • Include experience in a similar role, but not necessarily within a law firm environment.
  • Be AAT qualified or equivalent.
  • Have a good working understanding of how ERP / PMS / Reporting Tools work and enjoy working on improvement projects.
