Assistant Gardener vacancy (Full time)

We are looking for a local person (Marten, Wiltshire SN8 3SJ) to help maintain a large private garden within in a small team under the direction of the head gardener.

The main part of this role is to help maintain the gardens/grounds to high standards, tasks will include cutting grass both ride on and pedestrian mowers, strimming, leaf blowing, hedge cutting, weeding, watering, dead heading and other duties to keep the garden and surrounding areas clean and tidy. You will need experience in using garden machinery and working in a large private garden would be a bonus for the applicant.

Other tasks will include assisting in pruning, planting, propagation, vegetable and cut flower production, while some experience in these areas would be an advantage it is not essential as training will be given to the right candidate and will therefore develop your horticulture skills.

This role will require someone who is trustworthy, hardworking, has an eye for detail and can adapt to different tasks. You will need to be physically fit and happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions. A lot of the time you might be required to work on your own so will need to be self motivated as well as happy to work with other members of the team.

Working hours are 40 hours per week Monday - Friday 8.00-16.30 plus overtime and weekend work when required this might just be watering duties which is done on a rota basis. We offer a competitive salary depending on experience and qualifications along with an employer pension scheme and paid annual leave (28 days including bank holidays). This vacancy has the option to grow and addition training for the right candidate. Due to its rural location own transport is essential.

Salary £21,700 - £25,000 DOE
