Passionate about Farming, the Assistant Farm Manager will report to the Farm Director, with multi-site responsibilities across West Sussex and Hampshire. Working collaboratively with the broader farming team, duties and responsibilities will include planning and recording daily operations and working closely with our Crop Managers to ensure optimum crop yield, quality and performance. The Assistant Farm Manager will also take on responsibility for the efficient planting of cereals and pumpkins, recording key data on our Geofolio management system and lead environmental schemes and field margins. With good attention to detail, you will also monitor, manage and maintain accurate stock levels to include: fertilisers, pesticides, seeds and associated workshop materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crop production and management
  • Planning and recording daily operations
  • Effective management of field margins & environmental schemes
  • Crop Spraying
  • Managing Pest control & irrigation
  • Stock takes for fertiliser, pesticides, seed, polythene and workshop materials
  • Recording crop data recording
  • Working with Crop Managers to ensure optimal crop performance
  • Liaising with land owners and local contractors
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, risk assessments and procedure checks
  • Effective management of field margins and environmental schemes
  • Liaise with Labour Manager to ensure effective planning
  • Assisting with relevant crop harvest

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant or related agricultural qualification
  • Previous experience of working in an agricultural environment
  • PA1 PA2 and PA4 certificates
  • Member of NRoSO
  • Highly organised and computer literate in all MS office programs
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and priorities workload
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • BASIS and FACTS, non-essential, can be provided on appointment
