An exciting and rare opportunity for an aspiring Crop Manager to join our busy Farming Team. Our new Assistant Crop Manager will assume responsibility for designated crops situated across rural Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Applications are invited from committed and proactive individuals, capable of operating efficiently in a fast paced and sometimes challenging working environment. Reporting directly to the Senior Crop Manager, candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, confident of liaising at all levels both internally and externally.
Responsibility also includes effective management of crops, people, machinery, health & safety, estates and budgets for assigned crops and areas.
Confident & highly organised, the Assistant Crop Manager will play a pivotal role planning and programming crops with procurement and the Farm Management Team. Also planning daily operations across the areas including labour and machinery management.
Key responsibilities include but are not restricted to:
- Preparing crop blueprints
- Weekly crop forecasts
- Drilling & planting trials
- Planning & programming crops
- Managing stock
- Creating and monitoring of irrigation plans
- Labour allocation and review
- Creating and implementing appropriate machinery plans
- Managing field margins and environmental schemes
- Maintaining all related financial records
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Ideally educated to degree or industry related qualification
- Previous experience of working in agricultural environment - placement years will be considered
- Highly organised and computer literate in all MS office programs
- Proactive and flexible approach to work
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload
