Job Introduction

To provide a high-quality service to clients in the management of complex, sensitive and/or high value professional indemnity cases, as well as providing supervision and training to a team of Claims Handlers.

Main Responsibilities

File Handling

Manage a varied professional indemnity caseload. This will include developing a knowledge of legal issues in respect of a variety of professions as well as building an understanding of each profession’s own rules, procedures and regulatory framework.

Supervision and Quality Control

Workflow management and quality control for the team including:

Review incoming instructions, completing case set-up form to identify issues arising and allocating cases to Claims Handlers according to experience, development need and capacity.

Act as a point of reference and control for the checking of case strategy as well as signing off reports on individual cases.

Conduct ongoing quality reviews of work produced by the team and assist with internal quality audits where required. Contribute to quality control and compliance with client protocols.

Assist in maintaining client relationships.

Ensure that the client’s brand and methodology are promoted effectively in all dealings with third parties.

Ensure that the DAC Beachcroft brand and standards are maintained in managing the outputs of other panel firms.

Management

Contribute feedback to performance reviews for Claims Handlers and Senior Claims Handlers. Play a day to day role in providing coaching and supervision for less experienced team members.

Assist in the design and delivery of in-house training and know-how sessions on relevant issues and/or key developments in the professional indemnity field.

Assist in the supervision of the accuracy and timeliness of management reporting and information across the team.

The Ideal Candidate

Technical

IT literate with working knowledge of Word and Excel.

Able to work to deadlines and prioritise own workload effectively.

Able to progress tasks using own initiative, seeking guidance and input from Partners where appropriate

Confident oral and written communication skills

Confident negotiating skills

Knowledge

Knowledge of case management systems

Extensive relevant experience of professional indemnity litigation

Previous experience of supervising a team desirable but not essential

Qualifications

Law degree or equivalent by experience
