Job title: Assistant Buyer Location: Long Eaton, Nottingham Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 The Role The role of the Assistant Buyer is to support the Purchasing Department in ensuring all bought-in materials, components, products, and services are purchased under the best terms, in support of meeting agreed delivery dates and achieving agreed monthly shipping targets, whilst minimising stock holding and managing supply chain risks. The Assistant Buyer will place orders in line with requirements for production and follow-up to make sure goods are received before they are needed by production. Working in a small production admin team within a busy SME manufacturer, the Assistant Buyer will be expected to deputise for the Procurement Manager when they are not available and provide additional admin support to the production team as needed. Job Description Assistant Buyer: Place orders in response to production demands and follow-up to ensure goods are delivered before they are needed in production in line with procedures. Update the MRP system so all delivery dates are kept up to date and informing Production management of any issues ahead of time whilst working with suppliers to resolve any problems. Monitor and manage open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and keep Production informed of any unrecoverable delays. Maintain seamless communication and coordination with Production, Engineering and Finance as appropriate. Support Production in the management of material flow through the factory as may be required. Deputise for the Procurement Manager when they are not available making sure orders are placed, followed-up, and received in line with Production Planning expectations, resolving and communicating issues affecting delivery and quality. Identify when productions cannot be planned to meet customer deadlines and investigate alternatives in conjunction with the Production Manager Work with the IT manager to resolve booking issues as necessary to allow productions to be RAFd when completeCompany Benefits: Hours: 37 hours per week - 8.00am to 4.30pm Mon-Thurs (30 mins lunch), 8.00am to 1.00pm Fri (no lunchbreak) Rate of pay: £24,000 - £28,000 Contract: Permanent, full time.
