About the role…

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a Temporary basis at our site in Stafford for 12 months. This position will report into the Site Accountant and is a brilliant opportunity for someone to become part of the finance team!

Shift Pattern:

Days 08:00-16:00

What you’ll be doing…

  • Assisting them in controlling all aspects of the Finance function ensuring accurate and timely reporting both to Screwfix and Wincanton.
  • Reconciling & analyzing the hours reported on the various systems and working with operations on ways to eliminate any discrepancies.
  • Review of Customer weekly accounts and KPI’s.
  • Production of additional analysis to assist operations to explain key variances in the weekly and month end accounts.
  • Review of Wincanton weekly and month end accounts, balance sheets and open book reconciliations.
  • Production of annual budget and quarterly forecasts, modelling of the costs of resources & explanation of variances to previous forecasts.
  • Work with the CI & Development teams to ensure that any costs / savings can be tied back to the site financial reports.
  • Providing functional cover for other finance roles where required (holidays etc).

About you…

  • A part qualified Accountant (ACCA or CIMA) would be preferable, ideally with relevant experience in finance within the logistics industry.
  • Developed numerical and literacy skills are essential, combined with the ability to translate financial / commercial issues to a non-financial audience.
  • Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills necessary including the ability to create complex formulae.
  • Ability to learn several systems quickly and thoroughly.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to develop effective relationships within the customer and Wincanton businesses.
  • An influential and challenging individual, able to motivate and develop self and others.
  • High levels of personal drive, to both work independently and to balance the demands of a major contract.
  • Ability to work within a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Be able to communicate clearly on all levels and remain professional under pressure.
  • The role will based in Stafford.
