I am working exclusively with a global engineering company who are looking to recruit for an Assistant Accountant to join their Finance team on a temporary basis to cover Maternity Leave. Supporting the finance and payroll functions, the Assistant Accountant will take responsibility for posting bank transactions, bank reconciliation and Supplier Statement reconcilliations, Processing and Monitoring Expense Claims, alongside assisting the Finance Management and Financial Accountants on day to day, month end and audit reporting requirements. The position will also be covering Accounts Payable. Key duties and responsibilities-Post all bank transactions, daily bank reconciliation and treasure reporting to groupSupport Accountants during month end accounts including assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, journal postings, data compilation and analysisSupport Accountants to provide information to Internal and External Audit, information for Forecasts and Budgeting and other reporting requirements.Weekly Supplier Statement reconciliations and investigate variancesSupport the Business units including assisting production of regular internal reportingProvide Assistance and Absence cover to Accounts Payable including posting invoices and liaising with suppliers and internal colleagues on queries.Coding and monitoring employee expenses and credit card spendSome training will be given with the payroll software to support some adhoc exercises, audit requests and providing some emergency assistance.Any other similar duties, as deemed appropriate in line with the scope, spirit and purpose of the role ExperiencePrevious experience in a similar Assistant Accountant type role including experience in Cashier/Bank Posting and Accounts PayableGood understanding of Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet ReportingPrevious experience gained in a manufacturing/engineering/construction environment advantageousProven experience of working within a team and improving processes and best practice SkillsStrong organisational skills with the ability to work under time constraints and deadlines, prioritising own workload.Strong attention to detail and analytical abilityImpartiality & Integrity key, with an ability to manage confidential dataExcellent Communication skillsIT literate, with experience of ERP systemsAdvanced MS Excel skills desirable, but minimum requirement is good working knowledge of MS Excel, including ability to create reports/analysis in addition to updating complex pre-built reports QualificationsAAT Level 3 or 4 or qualified at an equivalent level by experienceAlternatively gained a relevant accountancy degree and have gained minimum 2 years post degree experience in an accounts/finance department.
