Main Purpose of Role

Reporting directly to the Management Accountant, the role will suit an accounting graduate or part-qualified accountant (CIMA/AAT), wishing to expand their technical and analytical skills. This ‘hands on’ position will appeal to a trainee accountant who would like to be involved in a wide range of areas – transactional finance, month end, analysis & reporting.

Key Tasks & Accountabilities:

  • Assisting the Management Accountant in the day-to-day financial & transactional requirements for Severfield Nuclear and other group companies including:
  • Daily reporting of cash book position to Group finance team and posting of cashbook
  • Assisting in the purchase ledger process including coding invoices and processing bank payments.
  • Assisting with fortnightly and monthly cash forecasting and reporting
  • Collation and preparation for posting of timesheet hours and reconciliation to payroll & agency invoices
  • Summarising timesheet information for submission to payroll.
  • Processing and monitoring expenses and credit card expenditure.
  • Agreement of intercompany balances, receipts and payments
  • Working closely with the commercial & admin teams to ensure all sales invoices are raised in a timely manner (including intercompany)
  • Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
  • Fixed Assets reconciliations
  • Preparation of journals for monthly postings on fixed assets and prepayments
  • Assisting in preparation of other balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monitoring of contract and non-contract costs
  • Assisting in the preparation of weekly and monthly management accounts and accompanying cost analysis
  • Assisting with preparation of information for the statutory financial statements
  • Rolling forward accounting excel files
  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly forecast/annual budget processes.
  • Periodic production/maintenance analysis & cost centre reporting – including relevant reviews with stakeholders.
  • Assisting the Management Accountant and Finance Director to ensure good internal controls are maintained and applied across the business.
  • Completion of statutory disclosures, including Office of National Statistics returns.
  • Other ad hoc work to support the wider finance function as required, including holiday cover for other finance roles

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Solid understanding of the basic accounting principals and day-to-day management accounting requirements alongside a willingness to develop statutory reporting knowledge.
  • Accounting graduate; or Part qualified CIMA/AAT, with the intention to complete their current qualification with potential for future development and training.
