Our Architecture, Art, and Culture course is designed to really immerse students in the incredible settings of both Oxford and London, helping to expand how they see the world — and the possibilities for future shared spaces. How have the values of various cultures impacted art and architecture? How are technological advances changing the way we design and build? How is architecture responding to ecological issues? The course will challenge students to explore their surroundings through a new set of lenses, while trying their hand at digital design, photography, and curation while considering the historical, political, and cultural forces that help to shape the world around them.
Instructor Responsibilities
- Review a planned course outline and work closely with our year-round team to customize it based on your areas of interest and research
- Teach approximately 5 instructional hours per weekday, in addition to all necessary class preparation
- Chaperone off-campus academic trips with your class, including on some evenings, in order to integrate the experience with curricular content
- Write end-of-summer course evaluation reports for each student, in consultation with, and with the assistance of, EXPLO year-round staff
- Travel with the group between Oxford and London, and assist, as needed, with associated supervision and other logistics
- Attend all-community events such as a formal dinner at Oxford
- An interest in teaching in a hands-on and interactive environment
- Professional or academic experience in the field; ideally, you will also hold a graduate degree in a related field.
- Availability to work on campus for the duration of the program
- The course will run from July 1 - July 12, 2024, with students arriving at Oxford on June 30 and departing July 13.

- Compensation: $3,000 to $4,000, based on relevant training and experience; room and board are provided for the duration of the program, as is round-trip airfare to/from the UK.
