The opportunityOur multidisciplinary design team is part of Mace’s consultancy technical services. Our design team includes architects, engineers, urban designers, master planners and interior designers. You will be seconded to the client organisation and will work directly under the client’s instruction and according to their processes and procedures. You will be required to work from the client’s offices in Winchester 2 days per week. 1 day per week may be based in the Mace office in Winchester. Other days may be worked from home, but this may vary. Attendance at meetings and site visits will be required.The projects are new builds, extensions, remodels and refurbishments with project values between £500k and £30m for clients including the local authorities.Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Delivering projects from feasibility to tender including stage reports, planning applications, building regulation applications and employers requirements.
  • Where the project is being procured through D&B form of contract you will be the technical advisor post tender and will be responsible for reviewing the contractor’s proposals and site operations to ensure the client’s requirements are being delivered. Where the project is being delivered through a Traditional form of Contract you must be competent in technical design delivery.
  • You will be working within the client’s integrated multi-disciplinary team. A collaborative team work ethic and the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary design team and to work to client instruction is essential. You will work under the instruction of the client’s lead designer or team leader.
  • Structuring your workload and deliverables and where appropriate those of a project assistant to achieve the requirements of the project and programme.
About YouYou must be Part 3 qualified, ARB registered. You must be digitally competent and experienced in developing projects using BIM. You need to understand the responsibility and sensitivities of working within a publicly accountable client body. Previous experience of working in the Public sector would be an advantage.The candidates will be asked to complete a BIM/Revit test at the interview stage. – An enhanced DBS check will be required.
