Working hours: 37.5 hours, Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm

Our world class Local Government Services team supports local councils to improve outcomes and focus on what matters in their communities. We care about helping local councils to transform and make every penny matter to ensure front line services are protected as part of their citizens charter to ensure that people live and prosper.

Capita local Government Services provides finance outsourcing services to a number of local authorities. We are now seeking an Accounts Receivable Team Leader join our shared services function for the provision of accounts payable services in our offices in Shepton Mallet.

What you’ll be doing:

  • To assist in the management of accounts and teams of colleagues within the F & A resilience services. To meet specific targets with regards to the debt analysis, MI and data and the collection of sundry debt as specified and other resilience areas such as Accounts Payable.
  • To assist with improvements to the team in line with a strategy of growth within the F & A environment which includes AR ( & AP )
  • To provide value to the team in terms of managing objectives, improving communication, mentoring colleagues and providing a good inclusive working environment.
  • The post will be based in Mendip and the postholder will need to be able to work from this location.
  • Lead and manage the resilience F & A in providing effective customer focused services in respect of accounts receivable and accounts payable, whilst promoting efficiency and continuous improvements.
  • Develop, document and review where appropriate processes and procedures for the resilience service and also providing authoritative advice on its effect and implementation to staff and provide technical advice where needed.
  • Identify, review and evaluate opportunities including growth of accounts, lean processes and solutions for our partner local authorities.
  • Determine team priorities to achieve targets in line with performance management procedures.
  • Ensure continuous service improvements, high standards of performance, quality and efficiency across the team and promote a culture of service excellence and continuity.
  • Processing of cases across all disciplines as required based on the needs of the resilience service and our customers.
  • Responsibility of results.

  • Demonstrable leadership skills, ideally in an AR Function
  • Demonstrable experience managing and motivating individuals to optimise performance.
  • Commercial awareness of development, risk and return.
  • Proven track record of successful implementation delivery and financial return.
  • Ability to apply flexible thinking and thought leadership to encourage an individual’s performance.
