We are recruiting for an Aquatic Husbandry Technician to join our client based near Kennford. Our client is the fastest growing UK Research facility with some of the world’s most influential scientists.

As an Aquatic Technician you will be working closely with the Facility Manager to provide day-to-day husbandry within the fish facility. You will work with the technical, research and academic staff within the department to conduct ongoing research within the resource centre.

Key Responsibilities:

§ Assist in understanding how to manage individual fish lines to ensure continuity of research activity

§ Assist with the daily production of killifish embryos for research programmes

§ Help maintain a database booking system to coordinate this activity

§ Assist in maintaining a stock management system that is critical in managing the fish lines

§ Assist with coordinating GMO activity in the facility, reporting new lines to the GM manager, ensuring compliance with local policies and the health and safety executive

§ Working with senior members of staff to develop new protocols

§ Assist in supporting the research of staff, student and others

§ Responsible for maintaining the laboratory cleanliness

Job Requirements:

§ BSc or higher in Biological Sciences or relevant qualification

§ Previous experience as an Animal Technician

§ Home Office License holder (not essential)

§ Strong background in Animal Welfare

§ Experience within an Aquatic Animal Facility

§ Experience of breeding and maintaining fish lines/populations
