Are you passionate about developing people and opening new career pathways? Do you have significant experience of developing learning curriculums and working with apprentices? Do you thrive on building productive working partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders?

We are looking for an Apprenticeships and Training Manager to join us on a permanent basis, working with our Human Resources and Learning & National Partnerships teams.

The role of Apprenticeships and Training Manager will have a strong focus on access and inclusion, creating pathways into the RSC and the theatre industry for people from backgrounds that are currently under-represented in the cultural sector.

The post will also create and manage a wide range of training and development opportunities for a diverse workforce at the RSC, including freelancers.

As a learning organisation we are committed to the principles of life-long learning and development and want to ensure that all colleagues at the RSC have the chance to build, as well as share, their skills and knowledge.

As the Apprenticeship and Training Manager, you will report directly to the Senior Manager, Organisational Development within the Human resources team.

Some of the main activities and responsibilities will include:

  • Developing effective pathways for recruiting apprentices into the RSC, ensuring that our approach has inclusion at its heart and supports organisational actions around equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Building relationships with key cultural sector agencies including but not limited to CC Skills and the Creative Industries Federation to ensure our approach to apprenticeships, placements and internships is informed by industry best practice.
  • To be familiar with the apprenticeship levy, ensuring that our levy contribution is used in the most cost-effective way.
  • Working with managers to ensure that personal development plans are in place for all employees, collating needs and forming an overall, prioritised plan for training and development that is within the organisational budget.
  • Building understanding of the training capacities and expertise that currently exists in RSC freelance artists and staff.
  • Commissioning, designing, or developing the most appropriate training to meet established and prioritised needs, whether through in-house or third-party delivery.
  • Undertaking a feasibility study to assess how best to extend access to RSC training programmes for national sector partners and freelancers.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience of curriculum design and apprenticeships, ideally but not necessarily in an arts or charity organisation.

We are looking for someone who brings expert knowledge, great communication, and has the influencing and planning skills to bring projects to fruition.

This is a full-time permanent position based in Stratford-upon-Avon, with some national travel required to work with partner organisations. You will be working 35 hours per week. We welcome conversations about working flexibly.

All applications should be made online using the RSC website. If you need any assistance when applying, please email jobs@rsc.org.uk
