As part of this apprenticeship, you will work closely alongside the IT team to support with the day to day running of the business. Duties will include but are not limited to the following-

  • Providing 1st Line support - Maintaining internal IT infrastructure and visiting customer sites as and when required to repair faults, help troubleshoot IT related issues & install IT equipment. Full UK driving license would be required.
  • Installing new hardware and software, setting up laptops/desktops for new starters.
  • Resolving user IT issues internally, managing office 365 as an administrator, assisting to fix network related issues.
  • Maintaining IT stock inventory (goods in/out), field engineer duties.
  • General IT related duties

  • A good understanding of IT and computer functions
  • Familiar with Office 365, Outlook and various other software systems etc.
  • Driver with full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

Desired qualifications

  • 5 GCSE’s A*-C level 4-9 must include Maths & English or equivalent level 2 functional skill.

  • Level 3 Information communications technician Apprenticeship Standard

Apprenticeship training will be delivered in a classroom environment, from the EMA Derby Hub on Siddals Road, Derby.

You will have access to modern, high performance machines, in addition to having the opportunity to explore computer hardware with expert tutors and instructors.

The qualification has core knowledge elements, before branching out into 3 pathways, which are as follows:

  • IT Support Technician
  • Network Technician
  • Digital Communications Technician

The employer and training provider will agree on which is the most appropriate pathway, and this will influence the project as part of the end-point assessment.
