Whilst the vacancy is to support a highly skilled staff, we are looking for a candidate who is willing to use their initiative to support a specific child The candidate needs to have a positive outlook and be a good team player.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Observe and monitor pupils to provide accurate assessments of progress
  • Prepare and maintain classroom resources including differentiated materials
  • Supervise activities for individuals and groups inside and outside the classroom.
  • Attend and participate in meetings if appropriate
  • Participate in staff training
  • Provide academic, social, and emotional support to identified pupils
  • Be proactive in supporting pupils with additional needs in an inclusive environment

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Be able to demonstrate your effective communication skills, be flexible enough to fit in to a school’s team of staff as well responsible enough to work on your own when required under the guidance of a mentor
  • Good level of English skills so they are able to model accurate spelling and grammar
  • Good ICT skills are required

Personal qualities

  • You must be passionate about working with young people
  • Ability to organise and prioritise
  • Ability to use their initiative
  • Willing to develop an understanding of SEN and the needs of the class

Desired qualifications

Good standards of numeracy, literacy, GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English.

The candidate will follow an Apprenticeship programme and study towards a full Teaching Assistant standard for level 3. This training will be structured and delivered by Cheshire College – South & West. If the candidate does not hold GCSE grades A-C (9-4) or equivalent, they will be required to complete a Level 2 Functional Skill in the relevant subject

The employer will also provide specialist in house mentoring and training relevant to the job (taking account of Covid restrictions), which will form part of the 20% mandatory training requirements. This will include some work in the admin office, work in another year group, work with the PE specialist and work with the special educational needs coordinator.
