About The Unit

Yara management have ambitious growth objectives for the YaraVita & Biostimulants business – essential to this success is the efficient and timely supply of our products globally.

We are seeking three Apprentice Process Technicians within our production team. Reporting to the Shift Managers the successful candidates will undergo the Scientific Manufacturing Technician training via TTE on a remote basis.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Shift Managers, the main responsibilities will be:

OPERATIONS
  • The operation of production plant and equipment, including:
    • semi-automatic bottle filling lines
    • powder tipping stations
    • bag and sack filling machinery
  • Also be required to operate mechanical handling equipment (MHE) - subject to qualification/training - namely counterbalance fork lift trucks and pedestrian pallet trucks (both powered & manual).
  • Line set up – including collection of packaging materials (empty bottles, boxes, labels etc).
  • Checking of sample weights and recording of production and quality data.
  • Stacking of filled boxes onto pallet by means of pallet lift table and vacuum lifting device.
  • Transportation of empty pallets, packaging materials and finished product by fork lift truck or pallet truck.
  • Follow work instructions for additions when making powder mixes.
SAFETY
  • To work in full compliance with all Company and local procedures related to chemical, process and occupational safety
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the work area
  • Understand and implement ‘5s’ principles (Housekeeping and workplace organization)
  • Ensure that any safety related incidents, accidents, environmental breaches, hazardous conditions or near-misses are reported immediately to the shift manager or Area Lead
  • Participate fully in any incident or accident investigation as required
  • Participate fully in Risk and COSHH assessment reviews
Profile

We will provide support and opportunity for the experiences required for passing the course, and in return you will need to be a self-starter and demonstrate commitment to study.

In return we will pay you a salary and all course fees through TTE (part of the Middlesbrough Group of Colleges) for the 2 year period, at the end of which the standard is recognised by the relevant professional bodies at Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) level and obtain three qualifications: 1) The Science Manufacturing Technician standard 2) Diploma in Process Technology, level 3 and 3) NVQ level 3 in Complex Process Operations

The succesful female or male candidates must be living in England and should have:
  • Level 2 English and Maths
  • Work shifts in year 2
  • Good standard of IT literacy
  • Good communication skills both written & verbal.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Have the discipline and self-motivation to balance the requirements of a challenging job and studying towards a qualification
