You have a great opportunity to be one of two Apprentice Medical Laboratory Assistants, joining a forward thinking and growing service that invests in its staff, innovation and development, which promote itself as the Employer of Choice for Pathology.

The Path Lab is a multi-disciplinary laboratory with all core disciplines and numerous reference services. You will be based at our central London Laboratory, where you will rotate in different laboratory disciplines

You will work alongside our support teams in our busy laboratories to learn the skills and knowledge required to become a Medical Laboratory Assistant. You will perform a range of duties under the supervision of qualified staff to help in the service provision for our patients and customers, whilst developing those all important skills

Good command of spoken and written English

Basic numeracy skills

Basic Microsoft Word and Excel

Good communication and listening skills

Ability to accurately follow written procedures

Good timekeeping

Accuracy and attention to detail

Ability to work systemically and under pressure in a busy environment

Able to work alone and as part of a teamBe able to organise and prioritise your own workload to set deadlines

Desired qualifications

GCSE grade C/4 or above in maths, English and Science or equivalent

Please note if you already have a BTEC in Applied Science or hold a science degree you are not eligible for this role

Training to be provided

One day per week will be dedicated to studying for the Level 3 Science Technician Apprenticeship, which includes a BTEC in Applied Science. Teaching will be delivered in a blended format by one of our Apprenticeship Partners. Training will be delivered to develop your skills and knowledge and individual learning plan will be in place including regular one to one sessions and use of an e-portfolio system.
