The role of Apprentice IT Technician will be a key role within the team dealing with our internal IT infrastructure and supporting employees with IT issues. You will be the first point of call for all IT Support issues encountered across the business by managing the IT Helpdesk and handle requests raised by email, phone or in person.

The successful applicant will join our IT department at our Head Office in Ely and will study an Information Communication Technician (level 3) apprenticeship with Cambridge Regional College – fully paid for by ASL.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the IT Helpdesk by handling all IT support issues raised via email, phone or in person, in a timely manner.
  • Providing IT support to internal customers and escalate issues as required.
  • Diagnose and establish problems or faults using the required troubleshooting methodology and tools.
  • New user set up including hardware purchasing, system, hardware and workspace set up. Install and configure all new user set ups such as computer/laptop, printer, mobile, mobile apps, phones etc.
  • Support and administer mobile phone and desk phone set up and issues.
  • Provide end-user IT, phone and security training.
  • Help identify problematic areas and provide potential solutions and ideas.
  • Keep the IT Asset Register up to date, conducting regular hardware, software, computer and computer accessory inventories, and report results to IT Manager.
  • Keep inventories and registers updated at all times.
  • Produce regular reports on helpdesk performance.
  • Check backups complete and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Update and write documentation for IT processes and IT System Setup.
  • Ensure regular communication with the IT Team on IT updates and progress.
  • Assist the IT Manager with IT Projects and ordering of Hardware and Peripherals.

KEY MEASUREMENTS

  • Timely resolution of IT tickets.
  • Ability to manage and meet deadlines

  • Passion for learning tech and IT based skills
