We are seeking a motivated and committed candidate living in the Tiverton area to start their career in construction as an Apprentice Civil Engineer. This is an opportunity to earn while you learn on a paid apprenticeship with the additional support of the Shared Apprenticeships team.

This role involves providing technical support to engineers and other construction professionals.

The main duties and tasks linked to this apprenticeship are assisting senior managers with:

  • The preparation and production of plans, designs and documentation to relevant codes of practice and industry standards.
  • Meeting statutory, regulatory, health, safety and wellbeing requirements.
  • Using and applying engineering principles and techniques.
  • Carrying out calculations and data analysis.
  • Preparing and producing sketches, diagrams, and models, to support technical problem solving and in the delivery of technical solutions.
  • Improvements to, or mitigating the effects of their work, on the environment.
  • Using quality systems and risk assessment procedures.

Driver essential - remote location and some travel required for the role

The Employer

Shared Apprenticeships is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise employing apprentices and placing them in work placements with contractors in the construction industry. Each of our apprentices has access to an Apprentice Manager for mentoring support who is committed to overseeing them through to completion and onward progression into the industry and/or a higher apprenticeship.

The Training

This apprenticeship is CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN LEVEL 3. It is can take up to 36 months to complete. The majority of the training is achieved in the workplace and the apprenticeship course is usually delivered one day per week in term-time by a local college or independent training provider.

Site Location

Transport is required as the work placements during this apprenticeship are expected to be up to one hour from the Tiverton area.

Entry Requirements

We work in collaboration with the nominated college to assess individual applicants, but the typical entry requirements for this apprenticeship are five GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths, English and a Science; or a Level 2 Apprenticeship.

Salary: As a minimum this job is paid at published National Minimum Wage rates.
