London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for the post of Applicant Relations Officer to work within the Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions team.


This department is responsible for the University’s student recruitment, its reputation, and external relationships. It works to help define and raise brand awareness of LSBU among target audiences while aiming to attract the best prospective students to the University. The team coordinates: media relations; internal communications; brand and visual identity; digital media; market research and insight; corporate and course marketing; events; and student recruitment. It creates then updates student records through every stage of the application cycle. The department makes decisions on applications for a majority of courses for most Schools, with the Admissions Office processing upward of 30,000 applications every year.


This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to engage and nurture LSBU Applicants through their journey to enrolment by providing first-class customer service via inbound and outbound communication activity. LSBU Applicant Relations Officers are the first point of contact for applicants and offer holders via multiple channels including telephone, email, live chat, and our social media.


About You:

We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:


  • Experience of working in a fast-paced customer service environment.
  • Ability to understand, explain and apply complex procedures and regulations.
  • Experience of dealing with a wide range of customers in various channels including telephone, online and in person.
  • Experience of solving problems, effectively and efficiently.

To be successful as an Applicant Relations Officer at LSBU you will also need experience of using initiative in the performance of your duties and working without close supervision, and you will need to be used to working in a high-volume processing environment. You will need the ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and to meet prescribed deadlines, and the ability to work as a team player with a flexible approach; able to adapt to change in circumstances, office procedures and / or computerised systems.


The ideal candidate will also have experience of working in a higher education institution, preferably including experience of the main clearing houses or University administration and knowledge of UK qualifications and the UCAS process.
