Job description

Anti-Social Behaviour Resolution Officer (Grade 7, 37 hours per week)

Sheffield is one of the safest cities in the United Kingdom. Sheffield City Council believes that everybody should live in strong and connected neighbourhoods which they are happy to call home. To achieve this all residents and visitors to Sheffield should feel safe and secure and should not suffer from anti-social behaviour, nuisance, or harassment.

We are looking for an experienced, Anti-Social Behaviour professional to join our Anti-Social Behaviour Team.

The Anti-Social Behaviour Team is a ‘tenure neutral’ team, working across Sheffield to tackle and prevent anti-social behaviour in all neighbourhoods. The team is part of the wider Safer Neighbourhood Service incorporating colleagues from Community Safety, Prevent and the Violence Reduction Unit, as well as being co-located with a Policing team.

The successful candidates will have extensive experience of managing and resolving urgent and complex anti-social behaviour issues. This may be in the fields of anti-social behaviour, tenancy enforcement, community safety, or law enforcement. This is an exciting opportunity to join and contribute to the development of the service.

A positive and enthusiastic outlook is essential as is the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people, including people suffering the effects of anti-social behaviour, and those causing it.

The postholders will be responsible for investigating cases, supporting victims and witnesses, and working in partnership to find effective, long-term solutions to anti-social behaviour issues affecting communities. This will include taking legal enforcement actions (preparing legal cases, instructing solicitors, and attending court).

If you are committed to improving the lives of those affected by anti-social behaviour and have the drive and determination to find solutions to complex problems, then we’d like to hear from you.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. The post holder will work standard office hours and occasional evening and weekend working may be required. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities, which benefit you and the Council.

We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.

It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.

Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
