About the Role

As an Ambulance Care Assistant at St John Ambulance, you will provide a high level of care, compassion and professionalism while responding to a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations including medical emergencies, inter-hospital transfers and urgent hospital admissions. You will be responsible for assessing, transporting and attending to patients whilst ensuring that they receive high-quality care including driving ambulances in a safe and controlled way.

You will ensure that you take all relevant information from the patient, carers or others at the scene, to ensure the best possible care for the patient including being vigilant to ensure that you are aware of the patient’s social and environmental condition, this includes reporting to healthcare professionals, hospitals or others as required whilst ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained.

When working with more junior team members, you will act as the senior team member and maintain clinical responsibility for the Ambulance, patients and crew. The role will include early shift start times.

About You

You must have a minimum of two years driving experience, and hold a full UK driving licence with a maximum of six penalty points.

You will be working with patients who could be vulnerable or experiencing trauma, so you must be compassionate and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, as well as, being able to work as part of a team.

Due to the nature of this role, if successful, you will be subject to enhanced DBS checks.
