About the role;


The role is responsible for assisting in the preparation of management information for Airport City, including but not limited to monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow), and the detailed work that supports the Airport City Board papers and statutory accounts. This will include engaging with the wider Airport City team to understand development activity and to ensure the financial position is accurately reflected in accounts.


The role covers the entire trial balances for Airport City, giving the individual a full understanding of the entities’ financials.


You will be supporting the development team with invoicing cycles, including education on purchase and sales orders and interaction with the purchase and sales ledger teams to ensure suppliers are paid and cash is collected on a timely basis.


The role holder will also support the Airport City Accountant in maintaining a robust control environment and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement within the Property / Airport City finance team.

Principal Accountabilities;


  • Assist in the month end close process, ensuring the ledgers are all closed to strict deadlines.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the accounts, calculate and post relevant journals to ensure the accounts are reflective of underlying financial performance / development status
  • Maintaining work in progress ledger
  • Cash reconciliation, matching costs in the work in progress to payments out of the bank
  • Assist Airport City Accountant in production of JV Finance Report and other ad hoc deliverables for the Airport City Board
  • Cash monitoring for Airport City and formulation of funding requests alongside Airport City Accountant
  • Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and in a timely manner, including review and sign off.
  • Support business with purchase orders and payments cycle, including ad hoc queries
  • Support the implementation of improvement initiatives within the Property Finance team.
  • Project monitoring and cost tracking by project
  • Production of annual financial statements
  • Supporting in providing information in connection with the statutory audit
  • VAT Returns
  • Assist in improving, standardising and automating the processes within the team and how finance works with the business
  • Working effectively with both finance and non-finance colleagues
  • The individual will help to shape new business processes around tracking major new developments, including the appropriate governance and monitoring

Knowledge, Experience and Skills;


  • A part qualified accountant, studying towards professional qualification.
  • An ambitious individual and team player with a “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to actively engage business stakeholders and to respond to queries in a collaborative manner.
  • Relevant experience of working within a GL function at a similar level.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to thrive under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations.
  • Experience of SAP or similar ERP systems, intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels throughout the organisation.
  • Self-motivated, apply high professional standards and be capable of bringing a strong focus on internal customer service levels to the role.
