Puffin Produce Ltd, based in West Wales are the largest supplier of Welsh produce in Wales, supplying a wide variety of potatoes and seasonal vegetables to multiple major retailers and wholesalers. Our organisation holds an excellent reputation as a progressive and developing company and we have recently made significant investment in a state-of-the-art packing facility and are currently investing further in a new Prepared Vegetable operation. Our Blas y Tir brand is a large part of our business in Wales and our new brand – Root Zero, has launched into the UK as the UK’s first Carbon Neutral potato brand.

Puffin Produce Ltd was established over 40 years ago; our growing business delivers high quality produce to UK supermarkets all year round. We work very closely with our dedicated growers right through from crop planning to storage and packing of the end product within our state-of-the-art potato factory.

Description

An excellent career opportunity has arisen in Pembrokeshire either for a BASIS/FACTS qualified agronomist or an experienced arable person with the right attitude and skills to pass BASIS. This is a hands-on team role, and you would be required to check crop growth & development and give technical advice on our grower’s crops to ensure quality and yield success.

Considerable emphasis is also given by our team regarding advice for our growers on their environmental credentials.

As an Agronomist, you will play a crucial role in advancing agricultural practices and improving crop production. Your expertise in scientific research, data analysis, and laboratory techniques will contribute to the development of innovative solutions for sustainable farming.

Candidate Requirements

· Relevant degree or higher qualification in Agriculture, Agronomy or related plant science.

· Good knowledge of, and passion for, UK Agriculture and successful potato/vegetable production.

· BASIS/FACTS qualified or the ability to gain these qualifications with further on the job experience.

· People person with a positive, can-do attitude and the ability to build great relationships with our team and growers.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; IT Literate.

· Full UK driving licence.
