We offer a wide-ranging curriculum to our Further Education students, including Arboriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal Management, Countryside and the Environment, Engineering, Equine, Floristry, Motorsport, Professional Tree Surgery, Outdoor Adventure Sport, Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness and Uniformed Public Services.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Agricultural Tutor to join our Agriculture Department/Team here at our York campus. This role will be working full or part time

We are seeking an individual who will be responsible for delivering a variety of relevant subjects associated with Agriculture at FE level mainly targeting 16 -19 year olds. Sector experience and industry knowledge specifically in a chosen discipline will be beneficial.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the timely delivery of assessments, assignments and exam based material in both theory and practical sessions to ensure they achieve whilst studying at Askham Bryan College.

Educated to degree level or above in a relevant subject, is desirable but not essential candidates should hold a teaching qualification or be prepared to work towards one. With excellent knowledge of current Agricultural methods and terminology, you will have the drive and passion to prepare the next generation of farmers for the future.

Askham Bryan College has a state-of-the-art Digital Skill Academy in which we focus on digital teaching, digital learning, digital assessment and digital upskilling. Using the tools and approaches set out in the colleges digital learning landscape. Which include the first in Europe, multi-user collaborative virtual reality suite which is at the heart of the building. Enabling students to experience immersive learning experiences in both ‘real world’ virtual reality and ‘animated’ virtual reality. These experiences are either created by the tutor or by empowering students to create their own environments for cutting edge assessment practices. Ever wanted to take your students inside an animal cell? Or make maths jump off the page? In virtual reality you can achieve just that!

In addition to the building and digital resources which include 360 cameras, virtual reality headsets and editing pods, we have a range of full licenced tools to enhance teaching and learning including interactive tools like Nearpod, video resources from planet e-stream, we use the full functionality of Microsoft to provide digital classrooms and digital teaching resources.

We believe this approach will improve technical teaching, skill development and deepen Learning, better prepare students for the world and workplace, mirror industry practices, protect students, protect environments and sustain resources and finally open up wider opportunities for learning in previously difficult to access environments such as food bio-security and we want you to be a part of that journey.

Teaching here is moving away from traditional methods and using technology to support all aspects of practice in a broad and balanced way from teaching and learning, progress tracking, subject specialist equipment and learning resources.
