Your Impact:

As an Agricultural Liaison Officer (ALO), you will play a key role in the successful delivery of the Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA). Reporting to the Site Agents and Construction Managers, you will be responsible for:
  • Liaising with third party stakeholders such as landowners, farmers, tenant farmers, IDBs, Environment agency. Inform landowners of project requirements and construction matters and feedback landowner information to the Project team.
  • Sharing your experience and educating the wider project team regards all operations relating to soil management and drainage, to ensure that sub-contractors handle and install these to the appropriate standards and specifications whilst adhering to SPA’s health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Liaise with third party stakeholders regarding land and land drainage matters. E.g. IDBs , Environment Agency, landowners, tenant farmers.
  • Carry out and organise with project team pre-entry record of condition of fields including identification of existing drainage issues
  • Carryout pre entry agreements with landowners in conjunction with Lands team
  • Follow up on requests from landowners for existing land drainage drawings to assist with new project drainage design.
  • Discuss accommodation works with landowners – e.g water troughs for stock, irrigation pipework, fencing etc
  • Assist the project team in discussions with IDB about flume pipe crossing points, including installation. maintenance and removal
  • Extensive experience in drainage design and installation and ability to advise project team and third-party drainage designers
  • Extensive experience in good soil management
  • During construction ALOs need to inform landowners about construction matters and project requirements.
  • Excellent at reading construction drawings and previous experience essential for this.
  • Assist the construction team in all matters regarding land access.
  • Assist the project team with boundary removal and reinstatement
  • Ensure land drainage sub-contractors workmanship conform to industry standards and specifications


Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Can demonstrate experience of being part of large-scale infrastructure programmes of work, with extensive experience dealing with soils and drainage in challenging terrain and conditions.
  • Is an excellent communicator who can build strong relationships with the project teams and external stakeholders (inc farmers and local residents).
  • Work collaboratively with the project team to help deliver the best solution.
  • Flexibility on travelling.
  • Has a can-do attitude and enthusiasm to innovate and get the job done!
