Job content

Due to our rapidly expanding agricultural operations an exciting opportunity has arisen for an dynamic and well-organised assistant with an interest in agriculture to join our agricultural team to provide support in a wide range of tasks across our agricultural portfolio.

We are a well-established, family-owned property investment company with diverse interests. We have an extensive portfolio of let farms and land in Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as a wide range of rural projects including energy renewables and forestry.

This exciting role will see the successful candidate assisting with the day-to-day management of the agricultural portfolio. Duties may include:

- Administrating a range of agricultural tenancies, including Farm Business Tenancies, Agricultural Holdings Act Tenancies, Grazing Licences, Wayleaves and Sporting Agreements

- Visiting our holdings and liaising with agricultural tenants, which will sometimes involve negotiations, organising farm visits/inspections, and keeping up-to-date on matters arising on each holding

- Administering the BPS and stewardship schemes which exist on the holdings, including accurate record keeping, and applying for new grants as applicable

- Ensuring compliance with the conditions of schemes and tenancies through effective relationships with tenants and contractors

- Viewing and valuing land for sale and provide administrative support in the purchase of new holdings

- Assisting with the letting of our various holdings

- Providing administrative support on our various rural projects

The ideal candidate will be:

- Proficient in record keeping and general administrative tasks. Mapping skills would be an advantageous but not essential

- An excellent communicator, and comfortable with liaising with a wide range of people

- Motivated and able to work from their own initiative

- Able to prioritise their workload and work to deadlines and diaries

- A committed team player

- Able to travel on occasional overnight trips across the portfolio (including Northern Ireland and Scotland)

This will be a busy and sometimes challenging role, but very rewarding. Previous experience in an agricultural environment is desirable, but not essential as full training will be given. More important is the ability and willingness to learn and develop as the role evolves.

In return you will join a dynamic and forward-thinking team, with excellent development opportunities available to the right candidate.
